Mac Pink Pigeon Lipstick On Dark Skin

Mac describes Pink Pigeon shade as a bright cleanest pink shade. But for me the shade is neon pink with very strong blue undertones. This shade will significantly wash out girls with above nc45 skin tone. I am nc42 in Mac and Pink Pigeon does suit me but only when I apply a little dark pink lip liner and than above it I apply this lipstick. I soooo meant to put this post up while I was in the Caribbean but then you know how it is—island vibes just feel so right so I was totally into just liming (Trini speak for hanging out) so I brought you my kinda daily diaries…lol. But yeah, I did one on my fave nude lip colors because although I brought you a ton of colors in both of my 50 Shades of Lipstick series, I also showcased colors just so you’d see how a certain color looked and those weren’t all necessarily my faves. And then after the shade my mom gave me for my nude lip colors (lol), I thought it would be nice to let you know which colors were my personal faves—you know—in case you care about what I like…lol.

Sleek MakeUP Fandango Purple, a matte magenta that looks so much like MAC Flat Out Fabulous (goes on like a gloss and dries matte)

Milani Uptown Mauve, a cream with shine magenta pink

MAC Pink Pigeon, a matte bright bubble gum pink

MAC Style Curve, a creamy with shine magenta pink {I think this might be LE but you know how they bring back shades—let’s hope this is one they revive}

MAC Flat Out Fabulous, a retro matte magenta pink

MAC Sheen Supreme Lipstick in Zen Rose, a very creamy slightly opaque with shine (like a cross between an opaque gloss and a satin lipstick) bright cool pink—some of the brightness is toned down because of the texture

MAC Quick Sizzle, a matte bright cool pink {I think this also might be LE, but again, MAC sure loves to revive colors—alternately you can Google “MAC Quick Sizzle dupe” to find comparison shades—I’m not that great at that stuff unless I see a blatant dupe like how Milani Sangria looks like MAC Rebel or how Sleek MakeUP Fandango Purple looks exactly like MAC Flat Out Fabulous. Ok, it’s not so much that I’m not great at spotting dupes—I just focus more on helping you guys find your best shades for your complexion than I do for dupes if that makes sense. And then believe it or not—even with all this lipstick I own, there’s still a lot of shades I don’t have. OK…WHY am I rambling? smh}

Also—please note that these are SOME of my favorite pinks. This doesn’t mean I’m saying because you don’t see a pink shade here that it isn’t a good fit for dark skin—these are also ones I already have pics of me in so I wouldn’t have to retake a bunch of pics—you gotta work smarter not harder, hon-nay! Also I’m only including dark skin here because I have dark skin—these pink shades also work on a variety of skin tones—but you can also check out my Your Best Makeup Colors series to find makeup shades that work on a wider range of skin tones. Review, Swatches and Dupe of MAC Lipstick Pink Pigeon

When it comes to lipsticks I am always obsessed with pink shades, I don’t know why I always end up by buying the same shades from different brands. And here is the example of my stupid obsession..although I have Daddy’s Little Girl, Love Forever from MAC, I was still craving from Pink Pigeon. Pink pigeon is a Limited edition shade from Strength collection. And people like me are mad about LEs. And when it is a bright pink like Pink Pigeon, I guess the shade itself will say everything. Let’s start with my review and swatches.

MAC Claims: Colour plus texture for the lips. Stands out on the runway. Simmers on the street! What made M.A.C famous. Totally true for this lipstick

Pink Pigeon is a bright pink that might not suit dusky Indian skin tones but will look great on fair to medium skin tones. The shade in bright sunny weather looks awesome. It looks so neon pink on me which I really love. But the shade is such a chameleon..it looks different in different lights. But whatever the shade looks on me in whatever light I just love to see my lips again and again in my hand mirror that I always carry in my handbag! The pigmentation of the lipstick is awesome. A single swipe is enough to get the actual shade of the lipstick.

The finish is matte and the texture is so smooth. I don’t feel any pulling or tugging on my lips while applying the lipstick. As the lipstick is matte so application of lip balm prior to applying the lipstick is suggested for dry lips. And proper exfoliation is must before applying this lipstick else one will end up with flaky lips. The fragnance of the lipstick is the usual vanilla scent that vanishes within few minutes of application thus it is good for people with sensitive nose like me..as I don’t use a lot of my lipsticks due to their fragnance which I can’t tolerate. Anyways coming to the review again!

The staying power of the lipstick is pretty good. It stays for more than 6 hours on me and fades away leaving a nice light pink tint on my lips.

The lipstick although being a limited edition comes in the regular packaging of MAC lipsticks, but the shade always matters more than the packaging. And who wants to spend extra bucks just for the packaging? So I am really happy that the price was not increased for being limited edition.
