New Friends Cookie Monster, Zoe, Slimey The Worm, and Ernestine to Join
NOGGIN's Daily Interactive Playdate
NEW YORK, May 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Preschoolers can pencil in a new set of playdates with more of their favorite Muppets! NOGGIN, Nickelodeon's commercial-free, educational network for kids 2 to 5, will premiere a brand-new season of the half-hour interactive series, Play With Me Sesame. 17 new episodes of the hit preschool series will begin airing on Saturday, June 7 at 8:00 a.m. (ET/PT) and will air regularly every day at 8:00 a.m. (ET/PT) on NOGGIN.
The second season of Play With Me Sesame will feature special muppet guest stars including, Cookie Monster, Zoe, Slimey the Worm and Ernie's cousin, Ernestine, in addition to the show's regular Sesame Street characters -- Ernie, Bert, Grover and Prairie Dawn. The new episodes will feature new original songs including, 'I Love My Sippy Cup,' 'The Groverelli,' and 'Wubba Lullaby,' among others.
In the premiere episode of Play With Me Sesame, special guest Cookie Monster joins the fun with a game of 'Ernie Says,' helps Prairie Dawn highlight kids art work in the 'Play with Me Art Show' (but he only sees cookies in every picture!), and teaches his signature song 'C is for Cookie' with Grover. In addition, brand-new kid segments will feature real preschoolers demonstrating activities and a brand new rubber duckie computer game called 'Ducks in a Row.'
On June 7, NOGGIN's website, noggin.com, will premiere enhanced versions of Play With Me Sesame games hosted by Ernie, Bert, Grover and Prairie Dawn which support preschoolers' creativity and individual expression. The online activities tie-in closely with the television segments and include 'What's Different?' 'Perfect Pair,' 'Pigeon Patterns,' 'Oatmeal Art,' where kids can submit their work for TV and online art galleries, and all-new rubber duckie games.
Play With Me Sesame mixes classic Sesame Street footage with newly created games and activities where the Muppets invite children to join in. Play With Me Sesame extends Sesame Street's time-tested educational mission through opportunities for active learning. The participatory design encourages preschoolers to express themselves creatively, while the games and activities support such cornerstone cognitive concepts as 'same' and 'different.' As an interactive experience, the program helps children cultivate skills and attitudes needed to succeed in the social environment of school.
NOGGIN / The N, owned by Nickelodeon, currently reaches 34 million households via cable, digital cable and satellite. With two distinct program blocks, NOGGIN for preschoolers and The N for teens -- the network helps kids to figure out their lives with educational media on-air and online (www.noggin.com and www.the-n.com).
Playtime with Bert is a Play with Me Sesame DVD, featuring a collection of skits focusing on Bert. The DVD was released only in region 4 and other territories. What better place to start than the good free Sesame Street online games?
There are two great sites to find them at, and if you have kids (or are a kid), they will love them. These games primarily are for ages 1-7 years. At the upper end of that range, kids start tiring of these characters, to move on to the likes of Arthur, princesses, Superman and Spiderman. For this opening article on this site, I thought I'd go for the old standby Sesame Street.
The first great site for Sesame Street online games is the Sesame Workshop website. As you might expect, that's the site with everything you ever wanted on Sesame Street, and more. Be sure to have your computer's sound turned on, to hear the familiar Sesame Street tune greeting you. The site is indexed based on character. Click on the character you want to play their games, from Bert Games to Elmo Games to Cookie Monster Games to Oscar-the-Grouch games to Zoe Games ... you get the idea!

Let's use the Cookie Monster games as an example. Click on Cookie Monster at the bottom of the screen and you are taken to Cookie Monster's world. His games are in the scroll window. You also have the options of clicking on stories, art and mail. When done with Cookie Monster, you can click on any of the other characters and go to their pages.
Another great site for Sesame Street online games is the PBS Kids site. This site has a more limited offering. Click on the character you want and go to their games. One favorite is Baby Bear painting.
There also is Noggin.com for Sesame Street games online. First you enter your name on the opening screen, or of course your child's name. Then you click through to the animated menu. Six click icons are on the right side of the screen for the six Sesame Street games offered. Some of them I found pretty engaging. The Bert's Pigeon Patter game can be addicting. The pigeon sounds also can be kind of creepy to humorous for an adult, but probably not for kids. After all Noggin is a kids game site.
